NVIDIA releases RTX Remix 1.6 with DLSS 5 and Minecraft Java beta

NVIDIA has launched version 1.6 of its open-source modding platform, RTX Remix, introducing significant upgrades to rendering technology and experimental support for Minecraft Java Edition.

A major highlight of the update is the introduction of DLSS 5, which utilizes a smaller, faster AI model and 3D-guided neural rendering. This technology allows modders to enhance lighting, reflections, and material appearances by using the game's existing geometry and texture information. The update also provides new artistic controls for creators to fine-tune these neural rendering effects.

Additionally, RTX Remix 1.6 features an experimental beta for Minecraft Java Edition (version 1.21.1) via a Fabric mod. This integration enables path tracing, allowing the engine to recalculate light, shadows, and reflections in real time. To support this, NVIDIA has collaborated with BlockWorks to provide a demonstration map and PBR textures.

Performance improvements are also included, such as 5x and 6x multi-frame generation for supported GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards and enhanced performance for certain AMD-Windows driver configurations.
