Nvidia RTX 50 GPUs reveal hidden hotspot and memory module temps

An update to HWMonitor has made the previously hidden hotspot temperature sensor of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 50 series visible again. The sensor, removed from public interfaces after the January RTX 5090 tests, could be accessed through Nvidia's internal diagnostic suite (MODS) by Brazilian repair technicians, who recorded hotspot readings as high as 107 °C, triggering automatic throttling.

Separately, community modders have unlocked per‑module GDDR7 memory temperature data on RTX 50 cards. Tools such as HWiNFO beta can now display multiple thermal points (e.g., eight points for the RTX 5090’s 16 memory modules), a feature not officially released by Nvidia but valuable for custom cooling and overclocking diagnostics.
