Nvidia Secures AI Chip Supply with SK Hynix and Forms Cybersecurity Alliance

Nvidia announced a $500 billion agreement with SK Hynix to secure a long‑term supply of high‑bandwidth memory (HBM) for its AI GPUs. The deal, disclosed at the AI Summit in San Francisco, aims to stabilize the component supply chain as demand for AI infrastructure grows.

Separately, Nvidia joined more than 30 leading technology firms to launch the Open Secure AI Alliance, an open‑source initiative that will develop and share AI tools for defending against cyber‑attacks. Founding members include Microsoft, IBM, Palantir, CrowdStrike, Cisco, Dell and Hugging Face. The alliance seeks to provide security teams with adaptable AI models after a recent AI‑driven intrusion at Hugging Face highlighted vulnerabilities in existing defenses.

Both moves illustrate Nvidia’s expanding role beyond hardware, influencing both the AI hardware supply chain and the cybersecurity ecosystem.
