Nvidia expands European AI footprint with Doctolib stake and UK research pledge

Nvidia is expanding its footprint in Europe through significant strategic investments and partnerships. The company has acquired a minority stake in the French digital health platform Doctolib. This capital is intended to accelerate Doctolib’s recruitment of AI talent and the development of proprietary medical AI models, including a personal health assistant for patients expected to be available to all users by 2027.

In addition to Doctolib, Nvidia is investing in three other French technology startups: Genesis AI, Pigment, and Entalpic. These investments are part of a broader European strategy that includes nearly $10 billion in capital commitments across the continent. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also announced plans for an additional $2 billion in new European investments to be detailed in the coming week.

Furthermore, Nvidia has pledged $250 million in computing resources over the next five years to support AI safety and security research in the United Kingdom. This commitment will provide researchers at institutions such as the University of Oxford, University College London, and Imperial College London with access to accelerated computing. During his European tour, Huang also addressed AI safety, stating he would consider halting chip supplies to customers developing unsafe AI software, though he emphasized that his technology is general-purpose infrastructure.
