Nyesom Wike signs over 26,000 Certificates of Occupancy in FCT
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has signed 26,272 Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) since President Bola Tinubu assumed office in May 2023. This figure significantly exceeds the total of 8,697 certificates signed between 2010 and 2023.
According to the Federal Capital Territory Administration, the previous 13-year period saw 5,500 certificates issued under President Goodluck Jonathan and 3,197 under President Muhammadu Buhari. The administration noted that many beneficiaries had been waiting for over a decade to formalize their land allocations.
The FCT Administration has implemented a streamlined process to improve the ease of doing business, including an automated notification system. Allottees can now receive their documents within two weeks of making necessary payments. These certificates are intended to facilitate access to funding, as they can serve as collateral for mortgages, commercial loans, and business expansion.
