Nyinahin bauxite project attracts foreign investment interest

The Nyinahin bauxite deposits in Ghana's Ashanti Region, estimated to be worth approximately $17.5 billion, are being positioned as a major driver for economic growth and job creation. The project has the potential to create nearly 98,000 jobs through an integrated aluminium development plan.

Ibrahim Issahak, the District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua, recently met with a delegation led by Maxwell Essien, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC), and representatives from ORG Technology, an investor from Guinea. The discussions focused on securing partnerships to facilitate the extraction of the deposits.

The proposed Integrated Aluminium Project involves building a refinery in Nyinahin to process bauxite into alumina. This alumina would then be processed into aluminium by the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) for sale to downstream industries.
