O Carballiño celebrates 64th Festa do Pulpo with 50 tons of octopus
The 64th Festa do Pulpo in O Carballiño concluded with a massive celebration centered around the traditional dish, pulpo á feira. The event, which follows nearly three weeks of cultural programming, saw approximately 50 tons of octopus cooked at the Municipal Park alone.
Estimates from local authorities suggest that around 50,000 people attended the festivities within the park area, with significantly higher numbers across the municipality and throughout the week. This year's festival featured Lanzarote as a dedicated guest.
While the event continues to grow in popularity, some veteran participants expressed a desire for more activity to be concentrated within the municipal park to enhance the atmosphere. The celebration included traditional elements such as the Banda de Gaitas de O Carballiño and various Galician folk festivals.
