O Carballiño opens Holy Door to mark Jubilee Year

The Temple of A Veracruz in O Carballiño has officially inaugurated its Jubilee Year with the opening of its Holy Door. The ceremony, led by the Bishop of Ourense, Leonardo Lemos Montanet, was attended by seven bishops and over 1,100 faithful.

The Jubilee Year celebrates the 75th anniversary of the temple and the 125th anniversary of the arrival of the Veracruz relic in the locality. The event aims to promote religious tourism and seasonal economic activity within the region.

Prior to the religious rites, a solemn tribute was held for the victims of the Urda railway accident. The festivities included a bell-ringing ceremony involving nine bell ringers from across Galicia and a procession through the streets.
