OAS and Haiti Prime Minister discuss security and elections

Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé met with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert R. Ramdin, in Washington to discuss the country's security situation and electoral process.

Both parties identified security and the organization of upcoming elections as urgent, interconnected priorities. The discussions focused on strengthening coordination between Haitian institutions and international partners to ensure a credible electoral process. The OAS emphasized its commitment to supporting solutions led by Haitians themselves.

The meeting comes amid ongoing challenges, including persistent gang violence and delays in the electoral calendar. The OAS intends to continue collaborating with the Haitian government, CARICOM, and the United Nations to translate international commitments into concrete results for the population.
