OAS to strengthen cooperation and mission in Haiti
The Organization of American States (OAS) is strengthening its cooperation with Haiti following the presentation of credentials by Catherine Pognat, the new OAS resident representative in Haiti, to Foreign Minister Raina Forbin.
Discussions between Forbin and Pognat focused on implementing the OAS roadmap to support Haiti, addressing national priorities, and establishing internship opportunities for Haitian university students within the OAS Mission.
Additionally, OAS Secretary General Albert Ramdin is scheduled to lead a delegation to Haiti from August 16 to 19, 2026. The mission aims to evaluate the country's security and political situation, with a specific focus on the organization of upcoming elections, including the presidential and legislative first round scheduled for December 13, 2026.
