Oaxaca Airport authorities seize over $365,000 in undeclared cash

Authorities at the Oaxaca International Airport in Mexico seized 365,865 US dollars and 5,900 Mexican pesos from an international passenger arriving from Dallas, Texas. The passenger had initially stated they had no goods to declare.

The discovery was made possible by a canine sensor named “Cinta,” which alerted customs officials during an inspection of the traveler's belongings. A physical search of four suitcases and one backpack revealed multiple packages containing the hidden currency.

The operation involved coordinated efforts between the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM), the Secretariat of the Navy, the National Guard, and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection. The individual was taken into custody and placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office (FGR) to determine their legal status.
