Oaxaca Congress approves reforms to boost youth employment
The Oaxaca State Congress has approved reforms to the Law for the Promotion of First Employment and the Law for the Economic Development of the State of Oaxaca. The legislative changes aim to strengthen the labor insertion of young people and align state regulations with the Federal Labor Law.
A key provision establishes a preferential right of hiring for young individuals who have completed social service or professional internships within a specific public or private entity. Additionally, the reforms seek to incorporate vulnerable groups into formal employment policies and mandate the creation of a Unified Registry of Beneficiaries of First Employment Programs, managed by the Ministry of Economic Development (Sedeco) in coordination with various state agencies.
