Oaxaca Governor launches infrastructure and administrative reforms
Oaxaca Governor Salomón Jara Cruz has launched two major regional development initiatives involving infrastructure and administrative restructuring.
In Villa de Zaachila, the Guillermo González Guardado neighborhood has been officially elevated to the status of a municipal agency. This administrative change, approved by the State Congress, allows the community to manage municipal resources directly to address social gaps. Planned improvements for the area include street paving, improved sanitation, potable water, and the introduction of the BinniBus Oaxaca metropolitan transport system.
Simultaneously, construction has begun on the Viguera underpass on Federal Highway 190. This project, representing an investment of over 270 million pesos, aims to alleviate congestion in the Oaxaca metropolitan area. The infrastructure will expand the roadway to eight lanes, including elevated bridges, to accommodate approximately 25,000 vehicles daily and improve safety for over 550,000 residents.
