Oaxaca Governor visits Museo Tamayo exhibition of Tamayo, Nieto, and Toledo

Oaxaca Governor Salomón Jara Cruz visited the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City to view the exhibition ‘Tamayo, Nieto, Toledo. Los años en París’. The showcase focuses on three prominent Oaxacan artists—Rufino Tamayo, Rodolfo Nieto, and Francisco Toledo—and their artistic evolution during their time in Paris in the second half of the 20th century.

The exhibition features over 100 works, including paintings, drawings, graphics, and collages, sourced from 45 private and institutional collections. The collection highlights how these artists integrated international avant-garde influences with pre-Hispanic aesthetics and popular art. Notable pieces appearing in Mexico for the first time include Tamayo’s ‘La mujer temblorosa’, Nieto’s ‘Zoología mental’ series, and Toledo’s ‘La amazona’ and ‘Compañero de viaje’.

Curated by Juan Carlos Pereda, the exhibition will remain open to the public at the Museo Tamayo in Chapultepec Forest until February 15, 2027.
