Oaxaca Highway Collisions Cause Major Road Closures

On July 25, 2026 a series of traffic incidents disrupted the road network in Oaxaca, Mexico. A multi‑vehicle collision between a tractor‑truck and several cars on the Tehuacán‑Oaxaca toll highway forced a complete closure in both directions, with traffic redirected to an alternate route near kilometer 40.

Additional disruptions included a blockage on Federal Highway 190 near Tehuantepec‑Juchitán, fallen trees that caused intermittent passage on the Tuxtepec‑Oaxaca road near Santa Catarina Ixtepeji, a taxi‑related accident that injured a young woman near San Bartolo Coyotepec, and a partial closure for pavement maintenance on the Pinotepa Nacional‑Salina Cruz highway. Authorities urged motorists to exercise caution, plan for longer travel times and use alternative routes.
