Oaxaca launches new BinniBus route and orders transport relocation

Oaxaca is implementing significant changes to its metropolitan transit system. The BinniBus collective transport system has launched a new trunk route, RT02 'Yii Gap (Cerro Alto)', connecting Viguera to Ciudad Administrativa. This 34.6-kilometer route is designed to benefit over 16,000 residents and operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 to 22:00.

The new fleet consists of 10 100% electric units, including four double-decker buses and six conventional models. Each vehicle can carry up to 112 passengers and features amenities such as air conditioning, USB ports, and universal accessibility via low floors and manual ramps. For safety, the units are equipped with 13 cameras, 360-degree vision, and driver fatigue alerts.

Simultaneously, the Oaxaca Secretariat of Mobility (Semovi) has issued a 60-day deadline for federal Urvan-type transport to relocate their terminals out of the city's Historic Center. This move is part of a broader reordering program aimed at reducing traffic congestion by moving passenger boarding and vehicle concentration to the city's periphery.
