Claudia Sheinbaum assures IMMEX industry of investment certainty after T‑MEC extension to 2036
President Claudia Sheinbaum met with representatives of the IMMEX sector at the Palacio Nacional, emphasizing that the Plan México programme “fomenta más inversiones y mejores empleos”. She announced that the United‑States‑Mexico‑Canada trade pact (T‑MEC) will remain in force until 2036, with only annual reviews and no immediate changes, providing a ten‑year guarantee for investors. Business leaders, including Concamin president Alejandro Malagón, echoed this confidence, stating “Coincidimos cien por ciento en que esto nos va a dar certeza, porque tenemos garantía de diez años”. Sheinbaum urged companies to protect their investments and use the single‑window trade‑facilitation system. Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard added that the treaty’s continuity removes market uncertainty and is expected to boost further foreign investment. The government also highlighted interest from other countries, noting calls with leaders from Japan, Switzerland, Spain, South Korea and others, reinforcing that Mexico remains an attractive destination for capital.
