Oaxaca Legislature approves new municipal and police agencies

The Oaxaca State Legislature has approved four new administrative designations for local communities. The decisions, issued by the Permanent Commission on Government and Agrarian Affairs, include the elevation of two localities to the status of Municipal Agency: Tierra Colorada in the Coicoyán de las Flores municipality and El Vado in the La Compañía municipality.

Additionally, two other communities have been recognized as Police Agencies: Arroyo del Pote in the Pinotepa de Don Luis municipality and La Cañada del Marqués in the San Miguel Tlacamama municipality. The legislature noted that these approvals comply with the Organic Municipal Law of the State and respect the right to self-determination for indigenous peoples and communities.
