Oaxaca launches 2026 Mezcal Fair and Cultural Parade

Governor Salomón Jara Cruz inaugurated the XXVII Feria del Mezcal y de Artesanías 2026 at the Centro Cultural y de Convenciones of Oaxaca on July 17. The twelve‑day fair, running until July 28, hosts more than 400 participants—including 106 mezcal producers, 208 artisans, coffee and craft‑beer makers, and 20 musical groups—and offers over 100 cultural activities. Admission costs 80 pesos, with proceeds earmarked for the state’s Hogar Primavera housing program.

The event coincides with the Guelaguetza celebrations. A free municipal shuttle network and the gender‑focused “Taxi Gunaa” program were launched to ensure safe transport for women. The Calenda de las Culturas parade, featuring 25 regional delegations, opens the festivities, highlighting traditional dress, music and dance. Organizers project a direct economic impact exceeding 36 million pesos, driven by tourism from national and international visitors.
