Obiettivo Tricolore paralympic relay to honor Alex Zanardi
The sixth edition of the ‘Obiettivo Tricolore’ paralympic relay will take place from September 20 to October 8, honoring the memory of the late champion Alex Zanardi. The event was officially presented at the Senate in Rome during a press conference attended by Senator Giusy Versace, Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, and representatives from CONI and the Italian Cycling Federation.
Fifty paralympic athletes from the ‘Obiettivo3’ project will cover over 2,000 kilometers across 20 stages. Participants will use handbikes, bicycles, racing wheelchairs, and running gear to traverse multiple Italian regions, including Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Lombardy, Veneto, and Friuli, before concluding in Trieste.
The relay is designed to promote social inclusion and the message that disability is not a limit to sport. The journey begins with a prologue at the Ironman Italy Emilia-Romagna in Cervia and will include challenging segments such as the Monte Zoncolan climb.
