Nigeria prepares for major 2026 creative and fashion industry events
Nigeria is preparing for several major events in 2026 aimed at boosting its creative and fashion economies. The Creative Africa Nexus Weekend (CANEX WKND 2026), hosted by Afreximbank in partnership with the Nigerian government and the African Union, is scheduled for November 5–8 in Lagos. The event expects over 10,000 participants and aims to connect creative entrepreneurs in sectors such as music, film, and fashion with international investors and markets.
In the fashion sector, the Nigeria Fashion Week 2026 will debut in Abuja from October 1 to 4. Moving from its traditional base in Lagos, the event will feature over 40 local and international designers at the Soul Lounge Resort. The week will include runway shows and a Fashion Entrepreneurial Forum designed to transition creative skills into viable businesses.
Additionally, Obsidian Advisory Africa will host its fifth Fashion Career Fair in Lagos on October 22–23. Through its Sprint Recruitment Program, the firm has trained 500 fashion talents to be pre-matched with over 100 businesses, aiming to create structured employment pathways within the industry.
