Obuasi Municipal Assembly lauded for DACF project progress as chief urges completion of admin block

Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene visited Obuasi and praised the Obuasi Municipal Assembly (OMA) for effectively using the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to implement 19 development projects in the past year. He highlighted the new disbursement model that sends 80 % of the fund directly to municipal assemblies, with earmarked allocations for education, legacy projects and the 24‑hour economy. The minister announced the imminent completion of two Agenda 111 hospitals, the operationalisation of several tertiary health facilities, and a commitment to construct at least 10 km of road in every district, with extra support from the Minerals Development Fund for mining communities. He also noted plans to phase out the double‑track school system and upgrade electricity infrastructure.

During the same visit, Akaporiso chief Nana Bosompen Kitikyie Apenteng II appealed to the minister to intervene in the stalled Obuasi East Municipal Assembly administration block, a project started by a previous government. Dr. Amoakohene assured the chief and residents that the administration block and other legacy projects would be completed, reiterating the 20 % DACF allocation for such works. Municipal Chief Executives Faustilove Appiah Kannin and Williams Kofi Zowu outlined ongoing health, education, water and social infrastructure initiatives across the municipality.
