Occitanie and France implement mobility aids amid fuel price rise

The Occitanie region in France is implementing several mobility aid measures to combat rising fuel prices. President Carole Delga announced three primary initiatives to protect residents' purchasing power.

First, the region will offer a second weekend of €1 regional train tickets on October 10 and 11, following a similar event earlier in the month. Second, carpooling subsidies for drivers will double to €4 per passenger for trips up to 50 km. Third, the region is accelerating assistance for the purchase of used electric vehicles through €5,000 mobility eco-checks.

On a national level, the French government has authorized increased freedom of movement for fuel tanker trucks until October 12 to prevent supply shortages at service stations. Additionally, a targeted aid program has been established for low-income commuters who drive significant distances for work. This program provides up to €7,600 for the purchase of new electric vehicles manufactured in Europe, specifically aimed at those in the 6th to 8th income deciles who drive at least 12,000 kilometers annually.
