OCOP program enhances value of Vietnamese agricultural products

The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program is driving value enhancement for agricultural products and transforming rural landscapes across Vietnam. In Hưng Yên province, Tuấn Vũ Foods has successfully utilized local Đông Tảo chicken to develop processed goods such as chicken ham, sausages, and salt-cured chicken, with four products receiving 3-star OCOP certification. Notably, approximately 80% of the company's output is now sold through digital channels like Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok.

In the same province, the Tiên Châu Phố Hiến Cooperative has elevated the reputation of local longan products. By adhering to VietGAP standards and developing processed items like dried longan, the cooperative has secured multiple 3-star and 4-star OCOP certifications, helping to build consumer trust through improved labeling and quality assurance.

In the Minh Đài region, the program has helped standardize local specialties including tea, forest honey, dried buffalo meat, and salt-cured chicken. By focusing on food safety, improved packaging, and traceability, these traditional products are expanding beyond local markets into larger stores and fairs, creating new economic opportunities for local ethnic minority communities.
