OCP Group resumes fertilizer exports to the United States

The Moroccan fertilizer giant OCP Group has resumed shipments to the United States after a five-year hiatus. An initial cargo of 54,000 tons of triple superphosphate recently arrived at the port of New Orleans.

The resumption of trade follows a temporary suspension of countervailing duties (CVD) by the U.S. administration. This decision was reportedly motivated by the need to protect domestic agricultural production and ensure food security, particularly as U.S. phosphate production has declined by more than 50% since 1995.

OCP North America, a subsidiary of the group, worked with U.S. trade authorities to establish distribution guidelines. While the measure provides immediate relief for the upcoming autumn fertilization season, the company noted that long-term market stability and investment planning will require greater regulatory certainty.
