Octopus Energy unveils Mercury‑certified EV chargers and launches Octopus Nook home batteries

Octopus Energy announced the Mercury Trust Mark, a certification that signals grid‑ready EV chargers and other smart‑home devices meet reliable performance standards. The first certified chargers – Zaptec Go 2, Easee One and Octopus Charge – carry the mark, which Octopus says will simplify consumer trust and enable cheaper, cleaner grid use.

At the Energy Tech Summit in London, Octopus also introduced its Octopus Nook battery range. The line includes the Cube, a 2 kWh plug‑in unit aimed at renters, and the Collosus, a wall‑mounted 5 kWh system that can be stacked up to 30 kWh for larger homes. The batteries are designed to store cheap electricity for use when prices rise and can be paired with Octopus smart tariffs. Sales are planned for the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain next year, with a 12‑year warranty and integrated Octopus Intelligence optimisation.
