Odessa Young in talks for role in Michael Mann’s ‘Heat 2’

Odessa Young is in negotiations to join the cast of ‘Heat 2’, the highly anticipated sequel to Michael Mann’s 1995 crime classic. Young is being considered for the role of Charlene Shiherlis, a character originally portrayed by Ashley Judd.

Additionally, newcomer María Cid is reportedly the top choice to play Gabi, the daughter of Neil McCauley. If these deals are finalized, Young and Cid will join a high-profile ensemble including Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Stephen Graham, and Jason Clarke.

Michael Mann is set to return as director and screenwriter, with the film based on a novel he co-authored with Meg Gardiner. The production has moved from Warner Bros. to Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists, but Mann confirmed the film will receive a traditional theatrical release, targeting approximately 4,000 theaters in the United States for at least 45 days. Filming is expected to begin later this year.
