Odisha CM calls missing Naidu Commission report on Laxmanananda murder a conspiracy
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the Justice Naidu Commission report on the 2008 killing of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and four of his associates vanished from the Chief Minister’s Office in Bhubaneswar as part of a well‑planned conspiracy. He announced that the investigation has been handed to the Odisha Crime Branch to determine how the file disappeared and who is responsible.
During a special programme marking the release of a biography of Swami Laxmanananda, Majhi unveiled the book "Vedanta Kesari Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati: Kruti O Byaktitwa" and pledged a Rs 13‑crore grant to preserve the Jaleshpata Ashram, build a 300‑seat girls’ hostel and improve water and other infrastructure. The Crime Branch will examine the chain of custody of the missing documents, including whether the loss was due to negligence or deliberate removal.
