Bhadrak couple dies in suspected snakebite incident

In Bhadrak, Odisha, a couple died following suspected snakebites at their home in Madhupur village. Pramila Barik fell ill on September 3 and was declared dead at Bhadrak Hospital. Shortly after her funeral rites, her husband, Paramananda Barik, developed similar symptoms and died while being transferred to SCB Medical and Hospital in Cuttack.

Due to the similarity in symptoms and the couple's living conditions in a mud house surrounded by floodwater, the family suspected venomous snakebites. Consequently, Pramila’s body was exhumed for a post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death. Local authorities and medical officials are awaiting autopsy results.

In separate incidents in India, a five-story building in Delhi's Satyaniketan collapsed, resulting in at least six deaths and leaving approximately ten people trapped under the debris. Rescue operations by the NDRF are ongoing. Additionally, in Ganjam, Odisha, three oxen died after a pickup truck's tire burst during an illegal cattle transport operation, leading the drivers to flee the scene.
