A low-pressure area over the east-central Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm by the morning of October 26. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is projected to develop into a depression on October 24 and a deep depression on October 25 before reaching cyclonic storm status.

The system is forecast to move west-northwestwards, likely approaching the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts by the morning of October 28. This movement is expected to bring heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to these coastal regions between October 27 and October 29.

In West Bengal, heavy rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in coastal and western districts starting October 28. Additionally, the system may cause a drop in daytime temperatures across southern West Bengal. In Sri Lanka, meteorologists have warned of increased rainfall in southwestern provinces due to the system's influence, although it is not expected to make direct landfall.

Authorities have issued advisories for fishermen to return to shore and avoid venturing into the sea, with specific restrictions in place for the Bay of Bengal through October 28.
