Odisha Police Injure Dacoity Accused After Bomb Attack in Ganjam

Police in Odisha's Ganjam district engaged a wanted robbery and dacoity suspect, Ghanashyam Behera alias Kalia, after he hurled a crude bomb and opened fire while attempting to flee on a jungle road between Kinari and Chunchipada. Inspector Kulamani Sethi, the inspector‑in‑charge of Purushottampur Police Station, returned fire in self‑defence, striking Kalia in the right leg.

The injured suspect was taken first to Kodala Community Health Centre and later to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur for advanced treatment. The police team reported no injuries among officers and said a search is ongoing for Kalia's associate, who escaped the scene.
