Odisha Police Launches e-Zero FIR System Against Cyber Financial Fraud
On 8 July 2026, the Odisha Police unveiled an e‑Zero FIR system aimed at curbing cyber‑based financial fraud. The initiative was launched by Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurana at the state police headquarters in Cuttack.
The system is linked to the National Cyber Crime Helpline (1930) and the State Crime Records Bureau’s Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS). Complaints of financial fraud involving ₹10 lakh or more are automatically converted into an e‑Zero FIR, which is then routed to the appropriate cyber‑police station for swift action. The integration eliminates duplicate data entry, speeds up case registration, and improves information exchange among law‑enforcement agencies. Police officials said the move enables “fast, transparent and citizen‑centric policing.” Citizens were urged to report fraud through the helpline so that the new mechanism could help recover lost funds more effectively.
