Odisha Police partners with NFSU to train 480 officers in cyber forensics

The Crime Branch of Odisha Police signed a five‑year Memorandum of Understanding with the Bhubaneswar campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU). The agreement, formalised by DGP Vinaytosh Mishra and NFSU Campus Director Dr Purvi Pokhariyal in the presence of Odisha DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, launches a cyber crime investigation and digital forensics training programme. Over the next three years, 480 officers from all 34 police districts will be trained in 16 batches of 30 participants each, with the first batch inaugurated on the signing day. The partnership also includes joint research, crime‑scene management, forensic infrastructure development and technical consultancy. Odisha has already set up 20 new cyber‑crime and economic‑offence police stations and equipped them with hardware and software worth about Rs 15 crore, responding to a rise in cyber‑crime cases from 124 in 2014 to 2,803 in 2025.
