Odisha releases fifth Subhadra scheme installment to 10 million women

The Odisha government is releasing the fifth installment of the Subhadra scheme, a flagship women-centric initiative designed to promote economic empowerment and financial inclusion. On the occasion of Rakhi Purnima, more than 1.03 crore eligible women beneficiaries are set to receive Rs 5,000 each via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The total disbursement amounts to over Rs 5,160 crore. According to Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, approximately 2,21,054 of these beneficiaries will be receiving the assistance for the first time. To ensure a seamless process, the state has emphasized beneficiary verification, e-KYC, and Aadhaar-linked banking arrangements.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi described the Subhadra Yojana as the largest women's welfare scheme in Odisha, aimed at fostering self-reliance. The scheme provides a total of Rs 50,000 to eligible women over a five-year period, distributed in annual installments of Rs 10,000.
