Odisha: Rescue of deer and survival of elderly woman in rivers

In Odisha, India, two separate incidents of survival and rescue have occurred amidst heavy rains and rising river levels.

Near Bhitarkanika, a mother deer jumped into the fast-flowing Baitarani River to save her fawn, which had been swept away by the current. Both animals were caught in the strong flow, prompting local residents to alert the forest department. Using a boat, a rescue team successfully retrieved both the mother and her fawn. After being examined and treated, the healthy animals were released back into the Bhitarkanika forest.

In a separate event, a 70-year-old woman named KC Dalai survived for 12 hours in the Brahmani River after slipping into the water near her village. The current carried her approximately 30 kilometers away from her home. She was eventually spotted and rescued by two men traveling in a boat near Pattamundai. Dalai was taken to a local hospital for treatment following the ordeal.
