Odolena Voda water remains non-potable due to lead

Water in the Odolena Voda region remains non-potable due to lead contamination. The restrictions affect 12 municipalities and approximately 15,000 residents, including 5,133 connection points. While many recent samples have met safety standards, a Monday morning sample from the Máslovice reservoir showed 27.7 micrograms of lead per liter, exceeding the 10-microgram limit.

Středočeské vodárny (Central Bohemian Waterworks) reported that the issue appears to stem from residual lead within the distribution network rather than the primary sources. To address this, the utility has begun flushing the network, starting with Máslovice, and is supplying the system exclusively with uncontaminated water.

Alternative water supplies are being provided via 39 mobile water tankers to ensure residents have access to drinking water, with priority given to schools, nurseries, and medical facilities. Although some areas like Zahájí have confirmed safe water levels, the general restriction against using water for drinking or cooking remains in place until further testing confirms consistent safety.
