ODS party support declines amid shifting Czech political landscape

Recent polling by Median indicates a decline in support for the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), which has fallen to approximately 12 percent. This places ODS in third place behind the ANO movement, at 34 percent, and the Mayors and Independents (STAN) movement, at 15 percent.

Political commentator Daniel Kroupa has criticized ODS chairman Martin Kupka for failing to introduce strong, new political themes. Kroupa suggested that to revitalize the party, Kupka should consider stepping down in favor of a new leader, proposing former Justice Minister Eva Decroix as a potential candidate.

Broader trends in Czech politics show a general decline in political engagement and party membership. While the KDU-ČSL maintains around 17,000 members and the Communist Party has 15,000, other parties like TOP 09 have seen significant decreases, falling below 2,000 members. Despite its high polling numbers, the ANO movement currently reports approximately 3,000 members.
