OEA monitors reports of bus shortages during Brazilian elections
The Organization of American States (OAS) has announced it is monitoring reports regarding public transportation issues during the Brazilian elections. Following complaints from passengers about long lines, delays, and reduced bus circulation in various regions on Sunday, October 25, the OAS mission stated it is tracking media reports and official complaints.
The organization also indicated it will follow decisions made by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) regarding the matter. In response to the reports, political parties have sought intervention from Electoral Justice in São Paulo and Bahia, while the Regional Electoral Court in Sergipe has ordered the replenishment of the intermunicipal bus fleet.
The OAS mission in Brazil consists of over 90 observers from 23 countries, monitoring technological implementation, electoral justice activities, campaigns, media, and violence indices.
