OAS monitoring of Brazilian elections

Overview

The Organization of American States (OAS) deployed its largest electoral observation mission to date for the Brazilian elections, consisting of 91 observers from 23 countries. The mission is tasked with monitoring logistics, technology, electoral justice, political financing, and digital communication across 20 states and the Federal District.

Following the initial deployment and the scheduled release of an electoral report, the OAS began tracking reports of public transportation issues on October 25. These reports included passenger complaints regarding long lines, delays, and reduced bus circulation. In response, the OAS indicated it would monitor official complaints and follow decisions made by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Meanwhile, regional courts have taken action, such as in Sergipe, where orders were issued to replenish the intermunicipal bus fleet.
