Oegstgeest boosts street‑festival subsidies and hosts community cohesion meeting

The municipality of Oegstgeest has increased its financial support for street and neighborhood festivals. Under the revised support scheme, eligible events can now receive €300 or €400 depending on the number of participating households, an added €100 compared with the previous, unadjusted amount. To qualify, a festival must involve at least ten households, be open to all residents of the street or neighbourhood, and incorporate at least two themes such as sustainability, quality, cooperation, diversity or community building. Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the event.

In addition, Oegstgeest will hold an inspiration meeting on 13 April 2026 for the “Lief & Leedstraten” initiative, which aims to strengthen neighbourly contact and social cohesion. The event, themed “Kracht van de straat,” will feature presentations on street greening, a free borrowing service called the BuurBox, and information on municipal support for tree‑mirrors. Residents are invited to attend at the Haeswijkflat’s lower hall and are asked to register in advance.
