Offshore energy projects advance with new subsea cable contracts and installations
Subsea Cable Assets (SCA) has secured a $20 million contract with Saipem Contracting Netherlands BV to support an offshore energy project in the Caspian region. The scope involves providing engineering, equipment fabrication, installation, and operation. SCA will deliver five cable transport carousels, each with a 1,100-ton capacity, manufactured at its Dubai facility. The operation includes mobilizing equipment in the UK and transporting it through Southeastern Europe to the Caspian region.
In Scotland, the 1.1 GW Inch Cape offshore wind project has completed the installation of its second 85-km export cable. The installation was carried out by Enshore Subsea using the vessel CMOS Installer. A total of 170 km of export cable has now been installed to connect the offshore substation to the onshore substation at Cockenzie. The project, owned by ESB and Red Rock Renewables, is expected to deliver first power toward the end of 2026.
