OFK Pirin management changes amid financial crisis

The leadership of the municipal company OFK Pirin EOOD is set to change following a decision by Blagoevgrad Mayor Metodi Baikushev and Municipal Council Chair Antoaneta Bogdanova. The officials notified manager Adalbert Zafirov that a proposal to terminate his powers and elect a new manager will be submitted at the next Municipal Council meeting.

This administrative shift follows the recent withdrawal of Georgi Kalpakchiev from PFC Pirin 22 AD. Kalpakchiev cited the club’s severe financial situation and accumulated debts from previous owners as the primary reasons for his departure, stating he could no longer independently finance the team. He noted that while discussions were held with potential investors to secure sustainable funding, all parties ultimately declined to participate.

Local officials plan to meet with club veterans to discuss the current situation and potential future options for the team.
