Alidu Seidu to join OGC Nice on loan from Stade Rennais

OGC Nice has reached an agreement with Stade Rennais to sign Ghanaian international defender Alidu Seidu on a loan deal. The transfer is being processed as an emergency “joker” move, a regulation in France that allows clubs to sign a replacement player outside the standard transfer window following a serious injury to a squad member.

Nice sought defensive reinforcements following long-term injuries to Antoine Mendy and Moïse Bombito. The 26-year-old Seidu, who is versatile enough to play as a central defender or right-back, is expected to undergo a medical on the Côte d'Azur shortly. While some reports suggested a potential purchase option, recent updates indicate the deal is a “dry loan” without an option to buy.

Ownership group INEOS provided the necessary financial approval for the transaction. Seidu, who has been under contract with Rennes until 2029, had seen fluctuating playing time and is expected to join the Nice squad immediately to bolster their Ligue 1 campaign.
