Ogun State prison official intercepts alcohol smuggling attempt

A woman identified as Shobowale Balikis has been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle alcohol into the Ibara Custodial Centre in Ogun State, Nigeria.

According to the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, officials intercepted Balikis at approximately 3:50 pm on Saturday. She was reportedly attempting to conceal Ethano inside a bottled water pack, disguising the alcohol as drinking water intended for an inmate.

The contraband was detected before it could reach the inmate population. Balikis has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and potential prosecution. Abioye Adesina, the Command’s Controller of Corrections, stated that the service maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding the smuggling of contraband to ensure safety and discipline within custodial facilities.
