Ogun State residents protest land disputes, herder attacks, and poor infrastructure

Residents and farmers in Ogun State are calling for urgent government intervention to address escalating security and infrastructure challenges. In the Odogbolu Local Government Area, the Ikangba community has appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun regarding alleged land grabbing. Community leaders claim that individuals are attempting to seize ancestral lands through intimidation and violence, despite previous warnings from the Department of State Services and the Commissioner of Police.

Simultaneously, farmers in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area have staged protests against suspected herders. Protesters from ten communities, including Ogunmakin and Ayegunle, claim they have suffered losses exceeding N100m over the last decade due to cattle destroying crops such as cassava, maize, and plantains. They have called on President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abiodun to prevent further clashes.

In Mowe, commuters and business owners are expressing frustration over the abandoned Mowe-Ofada road project. The road has remained in a deplorable state for over eight years, with only one side of the dual carriageway completed. This deterioration has reportedly increased transportation costs and hindered local business activities.
