Ogun State community grievances and infrastructure decay

Residents in Ogun State have engaged in various protests and appeals to government officials regarding security, land rights, and infrastructure decay.

Initial reports highlighted multi-faceted grievances in the Odogbolu and Obafemi-Owode Local Government Areas. These included allegations of land grabbing through intimidation in the Ikangba community, as well as protests by farmers against suspected herders. Farmers claimed crop losses exceeding N100m over the last decade due to cattle. Additionally, concerns were raised regarding the abandoned Mowe-Ofada road project.

Subsequent reports show a broadening focus on deteriorating road networks across several other regions, including Ado-Odo/Ota and Ifo Local Government areas. Residents in communities such as Akute, Alagbole, and Karanla reported that some routes have been neglected for over 20 years, with conditions worsening during rainfall. While Governor Dapo Abiodun has noted ongoing work on specific roads like the Owode-Ilaro and Panseke-Adigbe routes, citizens in industrial corridors and rural settlements continue to demand more immediate interventions.
