Ohio State dominates Ball State 56-3 in season opener
No. 1 ranked Ohio State opened their 2026 season with a 56-3 victory over Ball State at Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes' offense was led by quarterback Julian Sayin, who completed 21 of 25 passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns, including his first career rushing score.
Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith recorded eight receptions for 151 yards and two touchdowns, both occurring in the first half. Smith, a preseason All-American, continues to establish himself as a premier talent in the Big Ten. Other notable contributors included Devin McCuin, who tallied 97 receiving yards and a touchdown, and running backs Bo Jackson and Ja’Kobi Jackson, who both recorded long rushing scores.
