Ohrid Summer Festival Concert Highlights Macedonian and International Artists

The Ohrid Summer Festival presented a concert titled “Internal voice of the cello and violin.” The program featured the National University Chamber Orchestra of Bitola, Austrian cellist Emil Rovner and Macedonian violinist Simon Popovski, under the baton of Canadian composer‑conductor Eugenij Shcherbakov.

Works performed included Shcherbakov’s “Fantasy on a Korean Theme,” “Jewish Caprice,” Cello Concerto No. 2, “Trio for Two,” “Disposition” and “In Memory of Goce Kolarovski,” as well as an arrangement of George Gershwin’s “Three Preludes.” Popovski contributed his own “Fantasy on Macedonian Motifs,” showcasing Macedonian musical expression within an international repertoire. The audience responded enthusiastically, reinforcing the festival’s aim of uniting Macedonian and foreign musicians on a shared stage.
