Oil leak discovered near Rama 3 elevated road in Thailand

Bangkok Fuel Pipeline and Logistics (BFPL) and BAFS Pipeline Transport (BPT) are conducting extensive inspections following an oil leak discovered near the Rama 3 elevated road. After initial inspections on September 12 showed no abnormalities, further excavation on September 16 revealed oil seepage from the pipeline line and contamination within the drainage system.

The Department of Energy Business has mandated a three-step response: immediate repair of the identified leak, a comprehensive Pigging Test across the entire 32-kilometer pipeline to detect further risks, and the replacement or realignment of pipes in high-risk areas, such as those beneath structural pillars.

BPT holds the operating license for the pipeline, while BFPL, a subsidiary of Bangchak Corporation, manages the system operations. Both companies are required to submit maintenance records to authorities and are held responsible for all damages resulting from the incident.
