Oil markets volatile as US-Iran negotiations stall

Oil markets are experiencing significant volatility driven by stalled diplomatic negotiations between the United States and Iran. WTI crude prices have fluctuated between 90 and 94 dollars per barrel as investors weigh geopolitical tensions against improving supply metrics.

President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days. Iran's proposal included resuming nuclear program talks in exchange for the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade on its ports and the suspension of oil sanctions. In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that the nation remains prepared for both diplomacy and military confrontation.

Supply concerns have been partially mitigated by Saudi Aramco resuming tanker loading at the Yanbu seaport and the restoration of some oil flows via pipelines that bypass the Strait of Hormuz. Data from Kpler indicates that September oil exports from the Persian Gulf have reached approximately 80 percent of pre-war levels.
